Mt Victoria Newsletter – July 2018

There are quite a few things going on in Mt Victoria this month (and early in August) and as usual our newsletter is full to the brim of stories and events.

We have been working with a group of amazing students at Clyde Quay School who are organising a clothes sale called “Fashion for life, not just a season”. We are very excited about this event – which will be more than just a clothes sale, there will be a bake sale, a sausage sizzle, some hot drinks, a fashion show and talk from wonderful local charity.

We are also participating in Plastic Free July – we have been attempting to get the hub completely waste free, we are plastic free and have stopped using balloons and other disposable plastic items at our events instead using real crockery and cutlery and getting people to help wash up after!  We hope to continue doing this with all future events.

Our two events last month were hugely successful:

Olive Harvesting on Sunday 9 June  – this was so much fun and the resulting olive oil we had pressed was delicious. A massive shout out to Colin Kelly who provided his  knowledge and equipment in making this day happen and of course we couldnt have done it without all our wonderful locals who came out to help us.

Clean Up Our Streets on Sunday 24 June and a big thank you to everyone who came out to help us and to HELL Pizza for providing lunch which went down a treat.

As always get in touch if you would like to include items in our newsletter and here it is for you!
